No Cashiers at the new Amazon Go Stores?

Amazon has recently began opening up brick-and-mortar stores throughout the US and UK. No these aren't simply pick-up locations for your online orders, but actual retail stores where you can walk in and make purchases like any other store.

However, unlike any other brick-and-mortar store, Amazon Go stores don't have cashiers! Firstly, lets acknowledge how great this is going to be.... no queues! Finally a store with no waiting at the cash register when you have places to be.

So how does Amazon attain this checkout free retail experience? It works by using similar technology found in self-driving cars (computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning). This technology detects when products are taken or returned to shelves, and keeps track of these items in your virtual basket. Once you leave the store, your Amazon account is charged.

All you need to get started is the Amazon Go App, you scan in using your code upon store entrance and shop to your hearts content!

Visit a store near you to try it out!
