We've all come to love IKEA for it's easy-to-build, price
sensitive, and stylish furniture. But a recently implemented innovation by IKEA
gives us another thing to add to that list, and it's called ThisAbles.
What is ThisAbles?
It's a set of furniture hacks that can be downloaded and 3D printed to add
functionality to your IKEA products! Originally meant to make their furniture
more usable for people with disabilities, many of these ThisAbles would come in
handy for all of us.
To name a few of these hacks: bigger light switches,
easier-to-grab handles and extenders for couch legs.
These ThisAbles files can be downloaded, free of
charge, anywhere in the world. You then take the file and go to any 3D pringint
provider close to you and voila, you have the "Cane by Me" which
allows users to have their cane stowed right beside their bed.
An awesome, and innovative way for IKEA to live
out its vision to "create a better everyday life for as many people
as possible".
