Foldable phones, does Samsung even stand a chance?

A month ago, Samsung announced its new phone: The Samsung Galaxy Fold. Just a week later Huawei was fighting back. The Chinese tech firm has developed a smartphone that not only folds flatter it is also thinner and has a bigger screen. Compared to the Samsung Galaxy Fold, the Huawei Mate X disposes of a proper sized display when folded. Indeed, its main display is 6.6-inch (15,24 cm) when folded, that’s bigger than the iPhone X which features a 5.8-inch (14.73 cm) screen. When unfolded the Huawei offers a much larger screen size: 8-inch at your disposal (20.32 cm), only 1.7-inch (2,54 cm) difference with the iPad, except it fits in your pocket and you can carry it around literally anywhere.

But how will these new foldable phones perform when it comes falling or bending? After all smartphones are tech companions we bring everywhere and that we keep in our pockets, bags etc. it will thus be interesting to see how these two phones compare on that matter.

In terms of prices, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is announced to be sold at around 1’750€ which is actually quite competitive if you compare it to the Huawei Mate X’s announced price of 2’299€. If you are looking forward to these new foldable smartphones, you might want to start saving up asap.
