“You Snooze, You lose” – Is Ruggie the solution heavy sleepers have been waiting for?

We all have those days when we really struggle to wake up. The alarm goes off and we just want ten more minutes before actually giving up on our bed. The problem is, it is very unlikely that we are only going to close our eyes for ten minutes, and we end up messing up our plans for the day by hitting the snooze button.

Research has found that health experts agree that snoozing is harmful and just gives us the impression to feel more rested. In reality, what happens is that hormones are released and trick your body into thinking that it’s about to fall into a deep sleep. That is what increases sleep inertia (the feeling of grogginess) when we actually wake up. The worst part is that snoozing often becomes a very difficult habit to break, leading into a downward spiral of wasted time and energy. Fortunately, technology has once again found a way to help us solve our every-day issues.

In this post, we wanted to talk about an innovation that we believe is interesting and could end up being very helpful:

Ruggie is a memory foam rug with incorporated speakers having a range of 90-120 decibels (that’s the same level as a blender or a chain saw) that go off just like a normal alarm. The difference here is that it can’t be snoozed! The only way to stop the alarm is to stand on the Ruggie until the countdown ends (3 to 30 seconds depending on how you customize it). You can even have Ruggie deliver a custom message to get you in a positive mood whenever you need the extra motivation to start your day right.

The company raised more than double the desired amount on Kickstarter, which doesn’t surprise us at all! We truly believe that this innovation could be very successful. Not only is it useful for decorative purposes, it will definitely allow its users to reduce time loss. It’s also very practical and so small anyone could fit it next to their beds (see dimensions below). Its value proposition is something that everyone might need in their everyday lives and there are no exact substitutes of this product, only regular alarm clocks that you can snooze or turn off with one touch. The gadget is available on their official website for 99$. Get yours now!
